MEET JEANETTE

What makes a great teacher? Do you remember any of your teachers fondly? I do. My maths and chemistry teachers. I loved them both and they made me love learning.

I was spellbound and I would do anything to please them. Praise after a great exam result was gold. Learning from them was a joy.

My journey has been great fun. I am a mother of five beautiful children now with families and we are all very close. I like to think I was influential in their quest for knowledge, they are all smart successful adults who like learning. When they were young I wanted to be with them so I became a tutor, I had the best of both careers mother during the day and teacher in the evenings.

My life took an extraordinary turn when they were all at school. I wanted to learn more so I went back to university to study for a PhD in chemistry. At Sydney University I discovered the sheer joy of teaching “performing” to a large audience. I discovered talents I never knew I had, I was also in great demand to help students as I had a teaching background, I found I could explain at all levels and my students “got it”.

I would like to help students and teachers discover they can love to learn even the most difficult of topics. To feel the need to understand and know how to get there. Studying can be enjoyable if it is done the right way and there is nothing as reassuring as having another person to answer the hard questions. Soon every question will be a pleasurable challenge.

This is how I teach let’s find the hardest question and tackle it together. I can show you how to learn and enjoy the journey. I have helped hundreds of students for more than 35 years and now teach many of their children. I have work colleagues who fell in love with chemistry because of being in one of my classes. I love the first few lessons discovering each new personality and how I can connect with them. Everyone’s journey is unique, I can usually figure out pretty quickly where they are struggling. I like to help every student find their potential and learn to work with their strengths.

Come and Learn with me.
